Session 3: Environment and the Corporation

Presented by CIGI and HRREC

This four part virtual panel series is presented by the Centre for International Governance Innovation in collaboration with the Human Rights Research and Education Centre (HRREC) of the University of Ottawa. It celebrates the publication of CIGI’s newest book, Corporate Citizen: New Perspectives on the Globalized Rule of Law, which explores the legal frameworks and standards of conduct for multinational corporations.

This session examines the impact of multinational corporations on the environment, including looking at this from Indigenous story-telling perspectives. Expert panelists discuss how corporations are responding to the growing societal call for climate action and green transition to a no carbon economy. They will consider how government and industry action in the coming months could strengthen environmental justice and shape a green, sustainable recovery from COVID-19.
